The management at Tropica have shown unwavering support for its staff over the years showing great commitment to ensuring everyone learns new skills and find new ways of increasing productivity. On the job training and classroom courses are some of the steps management have taken to ensure the continued growth of the staff.
To boost employee engagement and encourage workplace satisfaction, the management team initiated a rewards strategy whereby employees are recognised for the hard work they put into the growth of Tropica. Monthly nominees are put forward by departmental heads for the employee of the year title. The nominee’s personal traits, interpersonal skills, attitude, commitment and work performance are then assessed before final selections are made.
Meet Employee of the Year 2016 – Mosese Naura
Employee of the year 2016 was awarded to twenty-eight-year-old Mosese Naura of the Engineering department. Mosese, an electrician by trade, joined Tropica as an apprentice in 2015 and has continued to grow tremendously since joining the Tropica family.
Mosese has always been dedicated to fulfilling the tasks that have been allocated to him. Consistent, helpful and cooperative, Mosese is always willing to take on new responsibilities, and showed great leadership skills amongst his peers. Mosese’s hard work did not go unnoticed by his supervisors and as such, he was awarded employee of the year.
This year, Tropica Island Resort awarded their employee of the year with an all inclusive package for 2 people including flights and accommodation to Australia to watch the Sydney Sevens! The initiation of the rewards system has resulted in a new interest and passion shown by staff in the work that they are doing. It has encouraged healthy competition between the different internal departments and increased productivity as the staff continue to work on improving the service they provide for their guests and ultimately continue to achieve Tropica’s vision for the future of becoming the leading adults only resort in Fiji.
